WestMED Malta contributes to Power4MED Marina Managers Training Day
The POWER4MED Marina Managers Training Day, held on 1st July 2025 in Malta, brought together marina managers, operational staff, and maritime stakeholders to discuss strategic approaches for advancing sustainability in marina operations.
Organised by Yachting Malta, the event formed part of the broader POWER4MED project, which supports the decarbonisation of smaller vessels and marina infrastructure through practical tools, expert guidance, and structured training.
As part of the programme, the Stepanie Vella (WestMED National Hub for Malta) delivered a session titled “Partnering for a Sustainable Blue Future: Insights and Project Opportunities offered through the WestMED Initiative.” This intervention highlighted the strategic alignment between POWER4MED’s objectives and the broader regional goals of the WestMED Initiative.
The National Hub stressed that the WestMED Initiative aims to foster sustainable blue economy development across the western Mediterranean and it promotes cooperation among ten participating countries on key thematic areas such as maritime governance, climate resilience and marine innovation.
The National Hub for Malta plays a role in connecting local stakeholders with the resources, expertise, and cross-border networks offered through WestMED. The Hub provides technical support, facilitates access to funding opportunities, and supports project development aligned with both national and regional priorities.
During the presentation, the National Hub showcased several recent successes involving Maltese participation in WestMED-supported initiatives. These include projects such as Power4Med as well as other projects on sustainable ports.
