The Al-Mukhtar Research, Consulting, and Training Center at Omar Al-Mukhtar University is proud to announce the Libya’s WestMED National Event, to be held on September 29 in Al Baya, Libya in cooperation with the Marine Biology Organization. This significant event will also feature the participation of the Libyan National Coordinator for the WestMED Initiative for the Development of the Blue Economy. and is expected the online participation of the Italian WestMED National Hub. The event is titled “Advancing Libya’s Blue Economy through Research and Innovation.”
The focus of this national event is to address the needs of Libyan research and academic institutions in order to engage in joint research and innovation programs with partners from the European Union across various sectors of the Blue Economy.
Launch Libyan Maritime Cluster
A key highlight of the event will be the official announcement of the establishment of the Libyan Maritime Cluster. This important initiative, which will be introduced in the presence of the head of the Tunisian Maritime Cluster and a number of Libyan experts, marks a significant step toward the development of a national strategy for advancing Libya’s Blue Economy. The Libyan Maritime Cluster will serve as a unified platform for all marine-related activities and industries, advocating for their interests. These sectors include coastal protection, marine engineering, marine industries, training in marine professions, commercial and tourist ports, marine fisheries, energy, and transportation, among others.
Membership and registration for the Libyan Maritime Cluster will open on October 1, 2024, and will be available to all interested stakeholders.
