Accord de partenariat entre les clusters maritimes tunisien et français

Salem Miladi, Hub national tunisien, a assisté le 10 septembre à la signature d’un accord de partenariat entre le cluster maritime tunisien et le cluster maritime français, et en présence du secrétaire général français de la mer, la maire de Carthage et le maire de Bizerte.

Les deux présidents des deux clusters ont insisté sur l’importance de la coopération entre les deux pays dans le domaine des activités liées à la mer et dans la promotion de l’économie bleue.

A cette occasion, Mr Miladi a brièvement présenté le projet WestMED et a confirmé sa participation au Forum de la Mer de Bizerte au cours duquel il présentera en détail le projet WestMED (samedi 21 en session plénière de 15.00 à 15.40).Les réprésentants des clusters maritimes tunisien et français signent un accord de partenariat

BRIDGES project – Presentation of underwater glider vehicles Deep Explorer and Ultradeep Explorer

The H2020 BRIDGES  project officially closed after four years with the public presentation on 28 August 2019 in Cassis (France) of Deep Explorer and Ultradeep Explorer underwater gliders.

These two prototypes are underwater exploration platforms adapted to the challenges of tomorrow’s marine research and the needs of the blue economy. On this occasion, the French National Hub was represented to discuss the next steps of this ambitious project with the various French partners Alseamar and ENSTA-Paristech / Armines, especially in the Mediterranean.

The National Hub joins an AMAre Workshop

On 4 June, our National Hub Malta attended the AMAre workshop.

The event was organised by the Physical Oceanography Research Group, in which the work of the AMAre project was introduced.

It brought together stakeholders within the Malta North-East Marine Protected Area (MPA) to build dialogue and awareness on common issues.

The National Hub took this opportunity to meet stakeholders in the marine and maritime sector and to disseminate information on the WestMED Initiative.

The MAESTRALE Project

Our National Hub Malta attended on 1 August a presentation delivered on the Interreg Med MAESTRALE project.

An interesting presentation on the Perspectives on Blue Energy Deployment in Malta Potentialities , Criticalities & Barriers for Use of Algae was delivered during the event.

The Italian National Hub at the WestMED hackathons Palermo

The Italian National Hub supported WestMED Central Team to ensure a qualified and numerous presence at the WestMED Hackatons, in Palermo on 14 May, contributing to the success of the initiative.

As rapporteurs together with relevant moderators, the Italian National Hub also coordinated the networking tables for Sustainable Coastal and Maritime Tourism and for Clean Transport.

Submission of ENI-CBC project MED-CLASS-BEST

The Italian National Hub in co-operation with the Maltese National Hub and the WestMED Central Team, supported interested stakeholders to gather in a partnership among Maritime Clusters. In July 2019, they backed the submission of a proposal to an ENI-CBC project MED-CLASS-BEST, leaded by Italian CENTRO DI COMPETENZA DISTRETTUALE SOCIETA’ CONSORTILE A R.L., joined by partners from Tunisia, France, Spain, Malta, Jordan, Egypt, Italy.

WestMED presented at Small Scale LNG Use, Euro-Mediterranean Conference

On 15-16 May, within the framework of the 5th edition of Small Scale LNG Use, Euro-Mediterranean Conference & Expo in Naples, the Italian National Hub presented the WestMED Initiative and the Assistance Mechanism, describing also project ideas relevant to LNG bunkering, emerged since Algiers Stakeholders Conference in December 2018, developed till the Hackathons in Palermo and the possible subsequent steps.

WestMED as a joint blue growth agenda at the Indian Ocean Rim Association

On 17 May at EXCO 2019, the Italian Expo of International Co-operation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) organised a common workshop on Blue Economy to develop stronger cooperation in the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.

The Italian National Hub presented the WestMED Initiative as an example of the adoption of a common sustainable Blue Growth agenda among countries sharing the same sea basin.

“Oportunidades de la economía azul en Andalucía”: así fue el primer RoadShow WestMED España

El pasado 10 de julio de 2019, se celebró en Málaga el evento ‘Oportunidades de la Economía Azul en Andalucía’, primer roadshow que el Mecanismo de Asistencia de la Iniciativa WestMED ha organizado en España a través de su brazo ejecutor en el país y en colaboración con el Clúster Marítimo Marino de Andalucía (CMMA).

La reunión congregó a un total de 37 personas, representantes de universidades, empresas e instituciones (ver listado de asistentes) dedicadas a los sectores de la acuicultura, transporte marítimo, turismo, pesca, energías renovables, arqueología sub-acuática, biotecnología, seguridad marina y conservación marina.

Con este evento se ha dado el pistoletazo de salida para la celebración de otros tres roadshows, reuniones a nivel autonómico y de carácter técnico, a lo largo de lo que queda de año 2019.

Los principales objetivos del evento de Andalucía han sido los siguientes:

  • Dar a conocer la Iniciativa WestMED y su Mecanismo de Asistencia;
  • Interactuar con los agentes más relevantes de Andalucía;
  • Conocer ejemplos de proyectos de Economía Azul ya en marcha en Andalucía;
  • Recopilar las principales ideas de proyecto y las prioridades de los agentes con potencial para llevar a cabo acciones en línea con la Iniciativa WestMED.

El evento se dividió en cuatro bloques principales (ver agenda):

  1. Apertura con representantes de las administraciones locales y regionales, entre los que cabe destacar al Secretario General de Acción Exterior de la Consejería de la Presidencia, Administración Pública e Interior de la Junta de Andalucía, así como al Excmo. Alcalde de Málaga.
  2. Presentación de la Iniciativa WestMED y oportunidades existentes en Economía Azul a nivel de Mediterráneo y de Andalucía.
  3. Ejemplos de proyectos existentes en Andalucía.
  4. Mesa redonda / Grupo de trabajo para fomentar la aparición de proyectos de cara a futuro y la colaboración entre instituciones regionales.

Durante esta última parte, los representantes de cada entidad mantuvieron un interesante intercambio de ideas basado en las siguientes preguntas:

  • Experiencias de su institución/organismo/empresa en Economía Azul en el pasado y presente.
  • Experiencias que se desean elaborar/abordar/impulsar desde su institución/organismo/empresa para un futuro.
  • Necesidades de asistencia (financiación, búsqueda de socios, etc.) de su institución/organismo/empresa en temas deseados alrededor de la Economía Azul.

El siguiente documento (ver resúmen del grupo de trabajo) recoge las principales ideas de proyectos o líneas de trabajo de los asistentes al evento.
