WestMED Initiative presented in Marseilles
The French national hub speaker participated to a conference entitled “Strengthening the Science-Policy Interface in Blue Growth” organised by InnoBlueGrowth (link no longer active) project in Marseilles on 16 April 2019.
Mr Frédérick Herpers, representative of the French National hub was invited to present WestMED initiative and discuss notably the support offered by the national hubs to decision-makers in the implementation of policy guidelines under the initiative. The round table included mainly research and innovation actors with representatives from the European Commission (DG Mare and Joint Research Center), Ifremer (representing BlueMed initiative) and UfM. The importance of ensuring coherence of the various actions and initiatives in the Mediterranean has been highlighted.
This conference was organised by InnoBlueGrowth, a project coordinated by CoNISMa. It is one of six Horizontal Projects approved from the first call of the Interreg Med programme 2014-2020. The overall objective is to increase transnational activity of innovative clusters to develop smart and sustainable growth in the Mediterranean area.
InnoBlueGrowth’s specific objective is to ensure the communication and capitalization activities of the 9 “modular” projects (studying, testing and capitalizing projects) dealing with Blue Growth issues in order to increase their impacts towards common identified targets.
