To provide for a more in-depth discussion on the report findings on development finance and development co-operation, a webinar will take place his coming Monday,14 September 2020 at 11am CET. 

The webinar will discuss the following questions:

·         How much development finance is channelled toward the ocean economies of developing countries, and is it really helping to enhance the sustainability of ocean-based sectors and ocean health?

·         In what ways is development finance being used to mobilise private finance, and what new financing instruments (such as blue bonds, new ocean insurance schemes, etc.) are available to fund sustainable ocean economies?

·         What role can development co-operation play to re-orient finance away from unsustainable economic activities?

This report is part of the Sustainable Ocean for All initiative launched in 2019 to assist developing countries address pressures on ocean and marine ecosystem services (e.g. pollution, over-fishing, climate change, habitat degradation) and chart a new course for sustainable development to tackle poverty, unemployment and food insecurity.

The event will be moderated by Jens Sedemund, Head of Environment & Climate Change Team Unit, Financing for Sustainable Development Division, OECD Development Co-operation Directorate, and will be structured as follows:
