This joint national event, organized by WestMED (Italy/Malta), BlueMissionMed, and the Malta Maritime Forum, will be centered on the maritime sector’s role in supporting sustainability and decarbonization efforts. It underlines the many successful partnerships between Italy and Malta in different projects and under various funding programmes and calls.

The morning sessions will focus on the importance of cooperation between stakeholders to achieve decarbonization goals. The afternoon consists of panel discussions on key maritime topics, including the involvement of the private sector in advancing the maritime industry and charting sustainable courses together with public authorities and research institutions. 

The private sector plays a critical role by driving innovation and adopting new technologies to reduce carbon emissions and enhance maritime efficiency. Engaging businesses and cluster in discussions ensures that solutions are practical and commercially viable, which is essential for large-scale decarbonization.

The event will  seek to highlight the role of authorities particularly in terms of establishing the regulatory framework as well as research institutes which contribute another layer of value by offering scientific expertise, innovation, and evidence-based insights, crucial for developing new technologies and models.
