On the occasion of the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference, the Blue Tourism Initiative is organizing a satellite event «Bridging Ocean Research and Policy Agenda for Sustainable and Resilient Blue Tourism«. It will be held at the Marine Science Institute (ICM/CSIC), on April 9th from 3 to 4.30 PM CEST.

At the heart of the reflection will be the intersection between blue tourism innovation, science and policy actions, and the main gaps and opportunities the sector faces. Specific attention will be given to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Western Indian Ocean through the presentation and discussion of regional diagnosis of the current state, impacts, challenges, and opportunities of blue tourism.

This satellite event aims to:

  • Allow interactions and the exchange of experience among marine regions.
  • Allow participants, including policy-makers, to reflect on policy actions to advance the integration of science and policy in the blue tourism sector.
  • Foster networking opportunities and lead to new initiatives and partnerships  across blue tourism stakeholder groups.A coffee break buffet will be held on the patio of the same ICM to enhance networking possibilities.
