The annual Fisheries Science Seminar, organised by the Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will take place on June 30, 2023.

This year’s seminar will center on the crucial role of citizen science in supporting fisheries science and management.

The primary objective of the seminar is to explore how citizens can support the scientific process and the management of fisheries.

To achieve this goal, the seminar provides a dialogue platform with multiple networking opportunities and debates about the potential of Citizen Science to inform fisheries and environmental policies.

The event will also highlight the relevance of citizen science in implementing an Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM) and the importance of acquiring data on recreational fisheries.
