Launch of the BlueInvest Platform

The European Commission has launched on 13 September the Blue Invest Platform which aims to support investment readiness and access to finance for early-stage businesses, SMEs and scale-ups in the blue economy.

The Blue Invest Platform provides the following services:

BlueInvest Community

The community is open to entrepreneurs, investors, corporates and innovation stakeholders interested in the Blue Economy. Our content and activities are designed to help start-ups and SMEs with investment and growth prospects.

BlueInvest Readiness Assistance

An exclusive coaching programme for high potential start-ups and SMEs with innovative and sustainable products and solutions for the Blue Economy.

Businesses and projects selected for the Readiness Lab will receive coaching packages tailored specifically to their readiness levels and business objectives. The programme is impact-driven, with a clear focus on providing business support to help startups and SMEs build capacities for growth and attract investment.

BlueInvest Events

BlueInvest events are aimed at business impact. Events will feature learning opportunities, knowledge exchange, networking and B2B matchmaking, in formats designed to transform business. Join us at:

Accord de partenariat entre les clusters maritimes tunisien et français

Salem Miladi, Hub national tunisien, a assisté le 10 septembre à la signature d’un accord de partenariat entre le cluster maritime tunisien et le cluster maritime français, et en présence du secrétaire général français de la mer, la maire de Carthage et le maire de Bizerte.

Les deux présidents des deux clusters ont insisté sur l’importance de la coopération entre les deux pays dans le domaine des activités liées à la mer et dans la promotion de l’économie bleue.

A cette occasion, Mr Miladi a brièvement présenté le projet WestMED et a confirmé sa participation au Forum de la Mer de Bizerte au cours duquel il présentera en détail le projet WestMED (samedi 21 en session plénière de 15.00 à 15.40).Les réprésentants des clusters maritimes tunisien et français signent un accord de partenariat

Projet BRIDGES – présentation des planeurs sous-marins Deep Explorer et Ultradeep Explorer

Le projet H2020 BRIDGES s’est officiellement clôturé après quatre années par la présentation publique le 28 Août 2019 à Cassis (France) des planeurs sous-marins Deep Explorer et Ultradeep Explorer.

Ces deux prototypes sont des plateformes d’exploration sous-marines adaptées aux défis de la recherche marine de demain et des besoins de l’économie bleue.

A cette occasion, le Hub national France était représenté afin d’évoquer les suites de cet ambitieux projet avec les différents partenaires français associés  Alseamar et l’ENSTA-Paristech/Armines, notamment en Méditerranée.

The National Hub joins an AMAre Workshop

On 4 June, our National Hub Malta attended the AMAre workshop.

The event was organised by the Physical Oceanography Research Group, in which the work of the AMAre project was introduced.

It brought together stakeholders within the Malta North-East Marine Protected Area (MPA) to build dialogue and awareness on common issues.

The National Hub took this opportunity to meet stakeholders in the marine and maritime sector and to disseminate information on the WestMED Initiative.

 

The National Hub Malta meets with the Ministry for European Affairs and Equality

On 30 August, Stephanie Vella met with the Ministry for European Affairs and Equality to discuss the priorities of the WestMED initiative and how these priorities could possible feed into discussions on the next programming period.

The MAESTRALE Project

Our National Hub Malta attended on 1 August a presentation delivered on the Interreg Med MAESTRALE project.

An interesting presentation on the Perspectives on Blue Energy Deployment in Malta Potentialities , Criticalities & Barriers for Use of Algae was delivered during the event.

The Italian National Hub at the WestMED hackathons Palermo

The Italian National Hub supported WestMED Central Team to ensure a qualified and numerous presence at the WestMED Hackatons, in Palermo on 14 May, contributing to the success of the initiative.

As rapporteurs together with relevant moderators, the Italian National Hub also coordinated the networking tables for Sustainable Coastal and Maritime Tourism and for Clean Transport.

WestMED participated at ADRIA4BLUE 2019

The Italian National Hub took the occasion of the first edition of the Croatian Conference on Blue Growth, held under the patronage of European Commission DG MARE on the 6-8 June in Rijeka – Croatia, to present the WestMED Initiative, to establish a strategic partnership between SEAFUTURE and ADRIA4BLUE, and to join some important seminars on the role of Maritime Clusters, and on Clean Transport and Alternative Fuels.

The important role of the Kingdom of Norway, co-organizer of the event through its Embassy in Zagreb and Innovation Norway has given also the possibility to establish useful contacts with the Norwegian experience in sustainable maritime transport.

 

WestMED presented at Small Scale LNG Use, Euro-Mediterranean Conference

On 15-16 May, within the framework of the 5th edition of Small Scale LNG Use, Euro-Mediterranean Conference & Expo in Naples, the Italian National Hub presented the WestMED Initiative and the Assistance Mechanism, describing also project ideas relevant to LNG bunkering, emerged since Algiers Stakeholders Conference in December 2018, developed till the Hackathons in Palermo and the possible subsequent steps.
