Blue Internationalization Webinar on New Opportunities for Blue Partnerships between Portugal and France

On 28 April 2026, another session of Fórum Oceano’s  Blue Internationalization Webinar Series took place.

This webinar was dedicated to New Opportunities for Blue Partnerships between Portugal and France and co-organised  with the French Embassy in Portugal (Embaixada de França em Portugal), the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie Luso-Française and Business France.

A series of expert speakers shared insights on what this means in practice. as cooperation between Portugal and France represents a strategic opportunity to enhance capabilities, accelerate investment and transform knowledge into concrete projects in the blue economy.

From offshore renewable energy to marine technologies, from maritime logistics to ocean research and coastal resilience, there are clear complementarities that can generate new business, scientific and institutional partnerships. More than building bridges, we must cross them.

Blue Internationalization only creates impact when it brings together geographies, markets, companies, knowledge centres and decision-makers, converting institutional relationships into concrete opportunities for business, innovation and growth.

In an increasingly competitive global context, clusters play an essential role as accelerators of trust, market intelligence and qualified cooperation. Economic diplomacy, when connected with the business and scientific ecosystem, becomes a practical instrument to open markets, reduce barriers and position Portugal in international value networks.

Portuguese participation in Sea Tech Week 2026 will be another relevant opportunity to showcase the country’s innovation capacity, collaborative approach and leadership potential in the blue economy.

The session included the participation of Diane Fattelay, Head of the Economic Services of the French Embassy in Portugal; Ruben Eiras, Secretary-General of Fórum Oceano; Jeanne Pais, Deputy Head of the Economic Service of the French Embassy in Portugal; Laurent MARIONNET, Director-General of the Luso-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Richard G., Head of Business France in Spain and Portugal, Business France; João Zorrinho, Blue Economy Manager at AICEP; Fanny Moutin, International Manager at Pôle Mer Méditerranée; Sébastien Cann, Business Development and International Delegate at Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique; Olivia Thompson Lahens, representative of the Campus mondial de la mer / Sea Tech Week organization; and Gonçalo Santos, Internationalisation Coordinator at Fórum Oceano.

Fórum Oceano, also EU Sea Basin WestMED and Atlantic’s National Hub for Portugal, will continue working to bring markets, institutions and companies closer together, promoting a more international, collaborative and competitive blue economy.
