The Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce stimulates shipping sector developments
In an unprecedented step in the field of specialized training, the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry organized a specialized dialogue session on Monday morning, August 11, 2025, at its headquarters in Tripoli.
The event featured a lecture by maritime navigation expert Mr. Ahmed Bridan titled: “Commercial Frameworks for Bills of Lading and Operational Alignment in the Transition towards the Blue Economy.”
The session was attended by Eng. Ali Shagrune, National Coordinator of the WestMED Initiative as well as President of the Libyan Maritime Cluster, along with prominent figures from maritime shipping companies, commercial banks, customs authorities, ports, exporting companies, as well as a distinguished group of academics and researchers.
The event was opened by the Chairman of the Board, Eng. Mohamed Raied, who emphasized the importance of supporting the maritime transport sector and enhancing knowledge of related commercial procedures.
This was followed by a speech from the Union’s Director General, Dr. Samir Al-Turmal, who welcomed the participants and commended the cooperation of the attending entities and their role in supporting the national economy.
This dialogue session comes as part of a series of programs implemented by the Union to develop the business environment and facilitate trade, thereby contributing to improving performance efficiency in the maritime shipping sector and supporting the Libyan economy at both regional and international levels.
