Since 2007, Tunisia has been a key player in European cross-border cooperation programmes, both through its participation in the Italy-Tunisia bilateral programme and through cooperation at the Mediterranean level via the various editions of the ‘Mediterranean Sea Basin’ programme, now known as Interreg NEXT MED.

To mark the launch of the new Interreg NEXT projects funded in Tunisia, the Interreg NEXT MED and Interreg NEXT Italy-Tunisia programmes, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Planning, are organising a joint event on 28 January 2026, from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Centre in Tunis (Place des droits de l’Homme, Avenue Mohamed V, Salle Oya).

The meeting will be attended by H.E. Mr Samir Abdelhafidh, Minister of Economy and Planning, H.E. Mr Giuseppe Perrone, Ambassador of the European Union to Tunisia, and H.E. Mr Alessandro Prunas, Ambassador of Italy to Tunisia. An online speech by H.E. Mr. Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Cohesion Policy and Reforms, is also planned.

The event will bring together representatives of Tunisian and European institutions, ministries and Tunisian project leaders to take stock of cross-border cooperation between Tunisia and the European Union, highlight its results and reflect on its future for the period 2028–2034.

We invite you to participate in this meeting and celebrate together a cooperation that serves the territories and populations.
