Call: European Maritime Space and Inland ports (AFIF) – works | Deadline 6 October 2026
Focus
This European Union grant funds the actual construction of green infrastructure across maritime and inland ports to accelerate the decarbonization of waterborne transport. Operating as a “blending” facility that requires applicants to pair EU grants with commercial or public bank financing, the call specifically targets the installation of shore-side electricity (OPS) for docked vessels, the deployment of refueling and bunkering facilities for clean alternative fuels (like hydrogen and methanol), and the eco-retrofitting of ships across the TEN-T network.
Why it matters
The call is important because it helps shift freight from road to sea, reducing emissions and supporting the EU’s climate and decarbonisation goals. It also strengthens cross-border transport links and improves the efficiency and resilience of Europe’s logistics and supply chains.
Who can apply
All European Union member countries are fully eligible to apply for funding under the General envelope of this call and CEF Associated Third countries – incl. Ukraine and Modova
Call budget: € 2.000.000
Deadline: 6 October 2026
